Post Office Crafts

    Mail Bag

    • Take a regular-size paper bag and fold it down to create a smaller bag. Measure two strings of yarn over both sides of a child's shoulder and cut at desired length so the bag can reach down to the child's hand. Staple both ends of the yarn onto either side of the bag. Flatten bag and decorate it with markers, crayons, glitter and cutout magazine pictures. Allow bag to dry before child uses it as a mail bag.

    Envelopes

    • Choose a piece of colored construction paper and lie it flat to form a diamond. Fold the bottom triangle up, then fold the side triangles over this surface. Press down on the folds and glue the interior edges of both side triangles onto the bottom triangle. Fold over the top triangle to create the flap for the envelope. Turn envelope over and draw a small box in the upper right-hand corner for the stamp. Ask kids to write letters to their friends and insert the letters into the envelopes. Seal the flaps with stickers.

    Advertisements

    • Children can easily create advertisements to use in their mail bag. Take a plain sheet of construction paper and draw pictures of food, including a price next to each item. Repeat to create advertisements for cars and houses. Alternatively, cut pictures of these items out of magazines, newspapers and junk mail and glue them onto the paper. If desired, staple several ads together.
