How to Build Puzzles
- 1). Wash and rinse the sponges in hot soapy water. Wring them out thoroughly.
- 2). Cut one of the folds of an empty cereal box to make a single sheet of cardboard. Flip it over so that the unprinted side is face up.
- 3). Set a sponge on the cardboard sheet. Trace the sponge and draw a simple shape in the center of the rectangular tracing. Be sure to leave at least ½-inch of space between the shape and the edges of the rectangle. Cut out the cardboard shape, creating a template.
- 4). Center the template on one of the sponges and use a washable marker to trace around it. Fold the sponge and cut a small snip into it on the trace line. Unfold it and cut the shape out of the sponge.
- 5). Repeat Step 4 with a sponge of a different color. Swap the shape cutouts to make a pair of two-colored puzzles.
- 6). Wash and rinse all of the pieces with hot soapy water to remove the marker from them. Wring them thoroughly and allow them to dry. Show your little one how to build two different toys with them while they're dry, then play in the bathtub with the new puzzles.
