How to Replace a Front Screen on an iTouch

    • 1). Insert the prying tool between the front and back (metal section) of the iPod Touch.

    • 2). Slide the prying tool all the way around the device, making sure to detach all the clips.

    • 3). Pull the front screen of the iTouch away from the rest of the device. Do this slowly, as it is still attached via its ribbon cable.

    • 4). Unclip the ribbon cable (located in the upper-left corner of the device) and carefully remove the digitizer from the iTouch.

    • 5). Unscrew the small Phillips screw located at the top-left corner of the LCD screen.

    • 6). Lift up on the golden foil, located at the top of the LCD screen, using the prying tool.

    • 7). Wedge your prying tool beneath the LCD screen and pop it out of the device. Remove it slowly, as this piece of the iTouch also has a ribbon cable connecting it to the back of the device.

    • 8). Unscrew the seven small Phillips screws located around the edges of the metal frame.

    • 9). Use the prying tool to pop the LCD ribbon cable connector up and out of place. This is a small, black square located just above the charge port.

    • 10

Use the prying tool to disconnect the metal clips going around the outside of the metal frame. After disconnecting these clips, completely remove the metal frame from the device.

    • 11

Set your new LCD screen in the same place from which you just removed the damaged one, remembering to connect its ribbon cable into the spot located just above the charge port.

    • 12

Replace the metal frame, screwing in all seven screws, then reassemble the device, in reverse order of this process.
