- Elephant tree grows naturally on the rocky, dry slopes of desert mountains. Grow the tree in a well draining rocky or sandy soil. The tree requires little supplemental watering once established.
- Elephant tree must be grown in a sunny, warm environment to truly thrive. Trees grown in low temperatures will lose their aromatic ornamental leaves. The tree may also lose its leaves if not watered during a long dry spell.
