Football Training Tips - Part II - Quarterback Training

Quarterback Training Techniques – Football Training Series

Strategies in Football are changing by the day and so is its complexity. Quarterback training can help players in identifying the defense strategies of their opponents. The assessors should watch series of videos and mark players while trying to understand the key strategies they implement in the game. The defense strategies such as 3-5-3 and 4-3 are pretty common however; the player must ascertain what the strategy that is followed by the player is. Some players might highlight unique behavior such as finger licking, touching their hairline or biting their lips before passing the ball or going for a blitz attack on the opponent.

The next step is to locate the safeties in the game. While you approach the line of scrimmage you should take a look at the position of safeties and accordingly pass the ball and chalk out strategies to curb down the wall imposed by the opponent. If the defense line up highlights 2 deep safeties, each on the hash marked then it indicates a Cover-2-zone defense set up with each safety responsible for the half field. However, it gets trickier if the safeties are rotated or are inching towards the line of scrimmage. It highlights man to man coverage or either the quarterback would witness a blitz. One classic exception is when both the safeties are on the same side then the quarterback can have a positioned distant receiver on the single cover.

There might be further variations such as what if the safeties line up at the tight end? In such a case the defensive back players would go for a man to man marking and follow them throughout. Quarterbacks generally read through the corners. If they are playing pretty close to the receivers then it highlights a zone defense else if playing far off from the receivers then man to man marking.

It is highly recommended to go through soccer video training programs on Quarterbacks in trying to understand it from a strategic point of view. The match sequences should be pause by the coaches and explained to the players with relevant techniques and examples. This can lead to better understanding of the game essential amongst the players in a seamless manner without any hassles or constraints whatsoever at all times. It is one such training essential that can help the players in developing their soccer skills in an effective manner on the go at all times.
