How to Keep Makeup on All Day Without a Primer
- 1). Create a clean surface for the makeup to adhere to. Makeup won’t stick to skin that is oily, so make sure your skin is clean and dry by washing it and drying it prior to applying makeup. If your skin is still oily, or you don’t want to wash it, blot it with blotting papers or tissue.
- 2). Apply a foundation to bare skin using a brush or a sponge. Use powder, cream or liquid foundation, depending on what your skin tolerates best and doesn’t make your skin feel oily. Don’t forget to draw foundation down to your neck and onto your ears to prevent foundation lines.
- 3). Prepare eyes for eyeshadow by applying a flesh-tone base makeup. You can use the same foundation you use on your skin or buy a cream eyeshadow base that matches your skin tone and is made specifically to hold your eyeshadow. Keep your eyes closed while the cream dries to create a smooth surface.
- 4). Set cheeks with a powder blush. Use a blush brush and avoid cream blushes or blushes that you apply using your fingers, which can add oil to your skin and cause your makeup to fade faster.
- 5). Apply eyeshadow as you normally would. Do not use liquid or cream eyeshadows because they tend to slide off skin faster than powder. Make eyeliner last longer by putting a layer of matching powder eyeshadow over the liner using a thin eyeshadow brush. Set it all by dusting your eyes with a translucent powder.
- 6). Make your mascara last by using a waterproof or water-resistant type. Some water-resistant or waterproof mascaras flake, so experiment with different types to see which works best for you.
- 7). Line the exterior of your lips and fill them in with a lip pencil. Choose a color that matches your natural lip color or the lipstick color you plan to use. Apply lipstick over the liner and blot your lips on a piece of tissue. Re-apply color to make the lipstick last longer.
- 8). Spray your face lightly with a makeup setting spray, which can be purchased at most beauty stores.
