How to Make a Paper Cover for Workbooks for School
- 1). Trace the outline of the book on the cardboard or card stock. Cut out two pieces, one for the front of the book and the other for the back of the book.
- 2). If using a grocery bag, cut the bottom out of the grocery bag and cut down the seam to make a flat sheet of paper.
- 3). Open the book and place it in the center of the paper. Make sure you have an inch to 2 inches extra along the top and the bottom of the book. Cut the paper at a length that leaves about 3 extra inches or so off each end.
- 4). Fold the top and bottom of the paper to the same size as the height of the book. Make sure you fold it straight across so it is still the same height as the book at the ends of the paper.
- 5). Paperclip the cardboard to the outside front and back of the workbook, fastening at the top and bottom, making sure the cardboard is even with the workbook covers.
- 6). Rest the open book in the center of the paper again and fold the one end of the paper toward the book. Slip the edges of the book and the cardboard into the top and bottom folds of the paper. Slide the paper toward the spine until you have about 2 to 3 inches of paper covering the inside cover of the book.
- 7). Repeat with the other edge of the paper, overlapping by the same 2 to 3 inches.
- 8). Close the book and note where the edge of the book is on the paper with a crease or pencil mark. Pull the paper in to that mark and fold it.
- 9). Remove the paperclips and wrap a piece of tape over the tops and bottoms of the paper about an inch or 2 from the edge. Do not tape the paper to the book cover itself.
