How to Word a Christmas Party Invitation

    • 1). Match the tone of your wording with the theme or intent of your party. If you are planning a formal Christmas party, you may want to begin the invitation with a more formal salutation, such as, "You are cordially invited..." If you're intending on having a more lively, informal gathering, begin with something in that vein, like "Come swing with Santa..."

    • 2). Follow the general guidelines for invitation etiquette. Spell out all names, dates, times and addresses for formal invitations. Avoid abbreviations, even for informal parties. Do not use punctuation at the ends of lines. Include commas where they are necessary to divide city and state or day and date. Capitalize only proper nouns.

    • 3). Include the pertinent information. Begin by explaining the purpose of the party, with a line like, "You are invited to the Smith and Jones Corporation annual company Christmas party." Follow with the day, date and time. Below that, write the place, and below that, the exact address. Include contact information for the guests to RSVP if that is required. Ultimately you want to end up with something like this:

You are invited to the Smith and Jones Corporation annual company Christmas party
