Halo 4 Dawn Walkthrough, How to Complete Mission 1 Alone on Legendary

This mission is much shorter and easier than the other missions in the Halo 4 campaign.
You can easily finish it in under 20 minutes with few or no deaths.
You will only encounter covenant enemies in "Dawn", so you should always use the loadout of a headshot weapon (either a magnum, battle rifle, or carbine) and a plasma pistol.
This loadout will allow you to instantly kill all of the enemies, regardless of what difficulty you are playing on.
You begin this mission inside of a stasis chamber having just been awoken by Cortana.
After you retrieve her from the council, you will draw your only weapon, a 224 ammo assault rifle.
Immediately walk to the left wall, where you will find a 16 ammo magnum that you should pick up to accompany your assault rifle.
Follow the waypoints that Cortana places for you, and two crates will eventually knock you into a low pressure elevator shaft (after Requiem scans you).
Climb the shaft by pressing up on the joystick.
As soon as Master Chief looks to either side, move the joystick in that direction to jump.
By repeating this process, you will reach the top of the elevator shaft, where an elite with an energy sword will ambush you.
Press the right bumper to kill him.
Now, the mission has fully begun.
Grab more magnum ammo from the magnum in the left corner of the room you are in.
In the room ahead of you, there 7 grunts and an elite major at the observation deck controls.
Walk up behind the elite while he is focused on the computer and press the right bumper when you are directly behind him to assassinate him.
Immediately sprint back into the room you were previously in for cover and wait for the grunts to come to you.
Use your magnum to kill the grunts with headshots, and use the doorway as cover if your shields fall low.
Because the magnum is a headshot weapon, it can kill any unshielded enemy (such as these grunts) with a single headshot, regardless of what difficulty or skull combination you are playing on.
Once you have killed all of the grunts, swap your assault rifle for one of their plasma pistols and remove the blast shields at the observation deck controls.
Return back into the room you came from and wait for two Phantoms to deploy 7 grunts and 2 elite majors in the main room ahead of you.
Do not walk out to attack the infantry, instead, wait for them to come to you so that you can stay in cover behind the doorway.
Kill the elites one at a time by removing their shield with an overcharged plasma pistol and then killing them with a magnum headshot.
When you overcharge the plasma pistol by holding down the trigger, it fires a homing plasma ball that instantly removes any enemy's shields.
Once the elites have no shields, you can use your headshot weapon to finish them off with a single headshot.
Kill any grunts with magnum headshots.
As long as you remain patient and stay behind the doorway, you can kill these enemies safely.
Swap your plasma pistol for a fresh one at the end of the fight.
Continue through the elevator into the next section, where you will come to a room with 2 grunts and an elite.
Use the doorway as cover to kill the grunts, then the elite with the same tactics described above.
Be sure to kill the grunts first so that you can focus all of your attention on the elite when you engage him.
Move into the next room and once again use the doorway as cover to kill the 3 grunts and elite.
As you head down the stairs into a long corridor, you will see four grunts and an elite major at the other end of the hallway.
Take cover behind the wall to the right and pick off the grunts with your magnum, using the 2x scope for accuracy.
Once only the elite remains, rush him while charging your plasma pistol and stun him as soon as you achieve a lock on.
Then kill him with a headshot and continue downstairs into the next area.
To your left, there is a weapons crate with assault rifles and magnums from which you should restock your magnum.
As you walk into the next room, use one of the storage crates as cover from the 4 grunts and elite major in front of you.
Kill the two grunts to the right, then the elite, and then the grunts to the left if possible.
At around this time, two jackals should enter the room via two doorways.
Jackals take cover behind a hand-held energy shield, so you will need to cause them to lower this shield before you can kill them with a headshot.
Shoot them once in the hand with your magnum to cause them to lower their shield, and they will momentarily expose their head.
If you are quick enough, you can then finish them with a headshot while they are flinching.
Continue out of the doors and to the right.
The hallway you are in empties into a large circular room with a smaller circular room in the center.
The center room contains 4 grunts, while 4 more grunts and two jackals wait outside in the larger room.
Use one of the doors into the smaller room as cover to kill the grunts inside, and then move in carefully.
Wait in here for the remaining grunts and jackals to enter and pick them off as they walk through the doorways.
As soon as you kill the last of the light infantry, three elite majors will move in from behind the center room, the center one wielding a concussion rifle.
It is easiest to kill these elites one at a time so that their allies cannot provide them with covering fire.
Select one of the elites, preferably one with a storm rifle, that is farthest from the other two.
Find a solid piece of cover and hide behind it to charge up your plasma pistol.
Quickly step to the side of the cover, stun the elite you selected, kill him with a headshot, and return to cover before the other two elites can return fire.
Be sure to kill the concussion rifle elite last because he is the most dangerous.
Jump around and keep your distance form this elite to avoid his concussion rifle shots and kill him with a plasma pistol and magnum combination as well.
Exit through the airlocks onto the exterior of the ship, where you will find a battle rifle floating in front of you.
Swap your magnum for this battle rifle.
The battle rifle is a headshot weapon that is more accurate than the magnum and fires 3-shot bursts.
Hug the wall to your left and walk along the platform you are on until you come to a pile of wreckage.
On the other side of the wreckage, move behind the cement column on the left wall for cover.
From here, kill the 2 jackal rangers and 2 jackal ranger snipers in front of you, then look down to the enemies below and to the right of the platform you are on.
Here, you should see 6 grunt rangers, 2 jackal rangers, and 2 elite rangers.
Pick of as many of the grunts and jackals with headshots from atop the ledge.
When you need to take cover, simply back up and the altitude of the ledge will protect you.
Once only the elite rangers remain, walk down the ramp and kill them one at a time with an overcharge plasma pistol and battle rifle headshot.
Be sure to grab a fresh plasma pistol and then move up the ramp to the missile controls.
On the second ramp, there are two jackal rangers and an elite ranger.
Kill the jackals from a distance, then move up to finish the elite.
At the top of the ramp, you will find one more jackal ranger sniper protecting the missile controls.
Kill the sniper with a headshot, swap your battle rifle for his carbine, and launch the Hyperion missile.
Unfortunately, the missile cannot successfully launch, so you will need to activate it manually.
Wait in the room with the launch controls while two Phantoms deploy 5 grunt rangers, 5 jackal rangers, and 2 elite rangers around the missile.
Do not leave the safety of the launch room until the Phantoms leave.
Once they have flown away, move down onto the lower level and find a good piece of cover far away from the enemies, ideally out of their range.
Pick off as many of the light infantry as possible before you move up to kill the elite rangers and any other infantry you missed.
Once you have secured the area, manually launch the Hyperion missile.
The Hyperion missile successfully destroys the cruiser, but the Forerunner planet Requiem will now begin to pull you in with a gravity well.
Follow the waypoints that Cortana sets for you in order to find an escape pod.
Although the ship is deteriorating, you can take as long as you want to reach the waypoints and you will remain perfectly safe.
By the time you reach the escape pods, they will have just broken off due to the gravity well, so you instead must fall from orbit without protection.
Luckily, you will survive the impact, concluding the mission "Dawn".
