Homemade Treatment for Teenage Back Acne

    Use a Back Scratcher

    • Since back acne is difficult to reach, it is helpful to utilize a back scratcher when cleansing and treating back acne. You can attach a washcloth to a back scratcher using a rubberband. To cleanse the back, wet the washcloth attached to the back scratcher, then lather with a natural soap formulated for sensitive skin types. Lather the back well, avoiding rubbing or scrubbing the back to aggressively. Rinse the back well to remove all of the soap. Cleanse the back in this fashion twice per day; once in the morning and once in the evening before bed.

Use a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Lotion

    • After the skin has been cleansed, it should be treated using a low concentration benzoyl peroxide cream. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most powerful acne fighting substances available, and can clear back acne quickly and effectively. High concentration benzoyl peroxide creams can be too strong on the skin and can burn the skin. Using a lower concentration cream, no higher than 2.5%, will clear skin without causing irritation. Apply the cream using a fresh washcloth attached to the back scratcher, gently massaging it into the skin until it is absorbed.

    Apply an Oil-Free Moisturizer

    • Whenever benzoyl peroxide is used on the skin, it is important to use an oil-free moisturizer to combat any dryness that may occur. Using an oil-free moisturizer will allow the skin to be hydrated without clogging the pores. The oil-free moisturizer can be applied in the same manner as the soap and the benzoyl peroxide cream; using the back scratcher and a washcloth to spread it around the back until it has been absorbed by the skin. Using a moisturizer after the benzoyl peroxide cream will keep the skin both clear and soft.
