At the 2003 World Championships, US gymnast Paul Hamm needed a perfect high bar routine to beat Chinese star Yang Wei in the all-around. Just two years before, Hamm had had a chance to make the all-around podium but fell twice on high bar, ruining all medal hopes.
This time, Hamm delivered –- performing five releases and nailing his double-twisting double layout dismount to seal the deal. He became the first American man to win a World all-around title.
