How to Level a Washing Machine Tub
- 1). Turn the breaker off that supplies power to the washer.
- 2). Place a level on top of the washer at the rear. Most modern washers have adjuster pegs on the rear that are self-leveling. Just pull up gently on the rear of the washer and the pegs will automatically deploy. If they are not self-leveling, turn each clockwise to lower the back or counterclockwise to lraise the back. Adjust each side as needed until the level bubble is centered.
- 3). Place the level on top of the washer at the front. Adjust the leveling pegs as done at the rear. Turn the pegs until the level bubble is in the middle.
- 4). Level the pegs to the floor if the bubble is in the middle of the level, but the washer still does not sit solidly on all of its legs. If the washer rocks from side to side, lower a peg until the rocking stops. Check it with the level. Adjust it this way until the washer and the tub inside remain level, even if some of the adjusting pegs are lower or higher than the others. As long as the washer, and therefore the tub, are level, it does not matter how the pegs are situated, provided they all contact the floor.
