How to Disconnect a Propane Gas Hose

    • 1). Turn off the device to which the propane gas hose is connected. If the gas hose is connected to a grill, make sure the fire is extinguished before attempting to disconnect the hose.

    • 2). Close the valve on the top of the propane tank by turning the knob to the right, or clockwise.

    • 3). Twist off the hose from the tank by turning the large plastic piece to the left, or counter-clockwise. If it is an older model with a 7/8 brass nut, use a wrench and turn the nut to the right, or clockwise. Although this contradicts the usual rule, that you should turn it counter-clockwise for removal, in this case you should turn the wrench clockwise.
