How to Use a Bridal Set

    • 1). Wear the engagement ring from the time of your engagement. Traditionally, the engagement ring is the larger of the two, usually consisting of a solitaire or a solitaire with side stones. The engagement ring is the bigger of the two in a set because it displays the monetary commitment involved in getting engaged. Historically, it was used as a sort of wedding insurance to ensure that grooms were serious about their brides-to-be.

    • 2). Switch your wedding ring to your right hand when you go to get married. This allows your groom to place the wedding ring on your finger without any impediment from your engagement ring, and it ensures that no ring fumbling can occur. Even if you have an insert wedding ring, it is better to wait until after the wedding ceremony to place the engagement ring inside the band, as this allows the exchange of rings to blend seamlessly into the rest of the ceremony.

    • 3). Place your engagement ring on top of your wedding band the ceremony. This keeps your wedding ring closer to your heart and the engagement ring closer to your fingertip. If you are worried about the two rings separating, ask your jeweler to solder the two together at the underside after your wedding day is over.
