Science Behind Underfloor Heating

In colder places where the temperature is always around 15ºC, central heating systems are used to keep the house warm.
Most commonly underfloor heatings are used which provide and uniform better heating.
Electric room warmers laid on the floors are widely used as they do not warm the ceiling, but rather the floor and the mid heights of the rooms.
On the other hand, radiator systems heat up the ceiling and keep the lower heights of the room annoyingly cold.
How does electric underfloor heating work? Warm water is the source of heat here.
This warm water, which is heated in a conventional boiler, is conveyed to each room via PVC pipes.
The temperature of the water is controlled using thermostat.
Each room can be controlled individually with thermostat and be set at different temperature.
Once the thermostat reaches a preset temperature, it will cut off the circuit by temporarily breaking the electric link at a controlling valve.
This will ensure that the water doesn't overheat and overshoot the required temperature.
A water with a temperature between 35ºC - 60ºC will heat up the room to about 18-29ºC.
The heat is trapped under the insulated flooring, thereby keeping the room warm.
Types of underfloor room warmers Solid floor system Underfloor heating can be build into concrete floors right when the building is under construction.
The insulations are provided as per the legal requirements and can be covered over with any non conducting floor surfaces such as wood, tiles, carpets or vinyl floorings.
Suspended floor system When there are suspended floors, the underfloor can be incorporated into the beams or joists that hold the floors.
Any floor covering maybe used to conceal the wirings.
Floating floor system This system is used when installing a new heating system in an already build house.
The wirings are installed above the existing flooring and concealed with another flooring material.
This gives the name as the second floor is the floating floor.
The electric underfloor heating is completely safe and can be installed under various types of floorings.
Wooden floors are preferred as they provide uniform insulation.
The next best option is carpet.
Depending on the type of flooring used, the maximum temperature will differ.
On the flip side, a full scale installation after a building has been fully constructed requires loads of destruction.
The do it yourself system never seem to work properly when compared to a professionally laid room warmer.
Also is if the insulation is not roper, then the amount of heat lost consequently very high.
Electrical central heating systems are still the best heating to date compared to the olden day's radiator systems where the efficiency was low and the bills heavy.
