- 1). Rinse the griddle with warm, soapy water before using it for the first time.
- 2). Pour a thin coating of vegetable or olive oil onto the griddle prior to sauteing or frying. You can also use butter or lard to coat the pan.
- 3). Use a nonstick spatula or spoon when cooking on the griddle. Metal utensils can scratch the coating of the pan.
- 4). Wash the griddle after cooking as soon as it is cool enough to touch. Use liquid dish soap and hot or warm water.
- 5). Sprinkle some baking soda onto your damp dishcloth or nonabrasive cleaning sponge and use it to remove any food residue that may cling to the pan after washing it in warm, soapy water. Rinse well and dry.
