Video: What if Makeup Settles in Pores?
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm skin care expert Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to share with you what happens when makeup settles into the pores. So when makeup settles into our pores, what happens is we get a buildup. And that buildup can create congestion, congestion of oil, dead skin cells, and that leads to proliferation of bacteria, which can create blackheads and other kinds of breakout. Our beautiful model Karissa, has combination skin. So she has a little bit of dryness on the edges of her face, but then we have a bit of oiliness and congestion in the common areas where the T-zone is, which leads to large pores. So I'm going to go ahead and cleanse Karissa skin with a cleanser designed specifically to tighten pores and relieve congestion. I'll be using the Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, by Kiehl's. Now I'm going to first start by dampening Karissa's skin, and I like to use a cleanser in the shower. I think that's the best time to use a cleanser because the steam from the shower and the heat from the shower is going to soften the dead skin cells that are on the surface of the skin, so it will allow for better penetration of the product. Okay. Now we're going to go into using just a little bit of product, just about a dime-size amount. I already love the feel of this cleanser. It has diatomaceous earth and Amazonian white clay, that's why it has this white texture, so it's fantastic for cleansing the skin, softening the skin, removing the dirt and debris. What this clay is going to do is pull the toxins out of the skin, and restore a healthier, more even skin tone. And when working the product into the skin you just want to do nice massaging motions. When you do have debris deep in the pore, you want the product to penetrate so that massaging will help to improve the circulation, and pull the product deeper into the pore so you have more clarity and more clarification. I'm just gently removing the product, and I can already feel that her skin is so soft, and it feels hydrated. It doesn't feel like the skin is stripped, and she has a nice kind of soft rosy glow to the skin, and one of the reasons her skin is not irritated is because it has aloe and oat kernel extract, and both of those are anti-inflammatory, and are going to prevent irritation and inflammation. A lot of times when we have enlarged pores, inflammation comes as a result, because the bacteria that's trapped in those pores maybe has been in there for a long time, and the debris that's there is creating irritation in the hair follicle. So all of these ingredients work synergistically throughout the day to help regular oil production, as well as keep the skin smooth and soft. And finally, to also keep our pores and skin healthy, it's important to use a daily sunscreen. If we don't use a daily sunscreen, our skin isn't protected from the UVA and UVB rays. Those rays can cause the breakdown of collagen and elastin and that loss of elasticity can cause the pore to expand. So it's important to always use sunscreen. And there you go. That's how to open pores deep down to get rid of congestion. I'm Tracy O'Connor, thanks for watching.
