How to Get Rid of Mold on Records

    • 1). Put on gloves. While you don't want to touch the mold with your bare hands, it is more important not to get the oil and dirt from your hands onto your records.

    • 2). Run a feather duster along both sides of your record. This will help to remove any dirt or debris on the surface of the record and inside the grooves.

    • 3). Mix five parts water to one part bleach into your small bowl to create a solution. Bleach will not hurt the vinyl of your records.

    • 4). Dip one of your hand towels into the bleach mixture and wring out any excess moisture.

    • 5). Run the bleach-soaked hand towel along the surface of your record, using gentle pressure. Start at the top of the record and, using long strokes, work in a clockwise motion. Repeat on the other side.

    • 6). Dry your record with a second hand towel.

    • 7). Dip a soft-bristled toothbrush into your bleach mixture. Run the toothbrush along the grooves of the record. Use very gentle pressure so you do not scratch the record. Repeat on the other side.

    • 8). Dry you record with a hand towel and store in a cool, dry location.
