My Roper Dryer Is Not Working
- 1). Look at the "Wrinkle Guard" control if your Roper dryer has one. If it is in the "on" position, the dryer won't start. Turn the Wrinkle Guard control off and try to start the dryer.
- 2). Examine the power cord to see if it's all the way in the receptacle. If it's loose, there may be some arcing that can short out your cord and prevent your Roper dryer from starting.
- 3). Check the door switch and ensure that your Roper dryer door is closing properly. The door switch signals your dryer that it's ready to operate. A Roper dryer with a broken door switch, or a door that doesn't close all the way, will fail to send the signal, causing the dryer to fail to turn on.
- 4). Open your fuse box to see if the Roper dryer's circuit breakers have tripped or if the fuses have blown. Replace the time delay fuses as necessary, or flip the breaker back to "on."
- 5). Test your start controller and starter switch with an ohmmeter. The controller and switch are located inside the dryer's control panel. Use your wiring diagram to find their exact location and ohm ratings. Make sure you turn off the power source before testing the wires.
- 6). Locate your thermal fuse inside the dryer's exhaust vent and see if it's blown. A blown thermal fuse tells your Roper dryer that it has overheated, preventing it from coming back on.
