- 1). Scrape up as much excess paint as possible with a blunt object, such as a butter knife.
- 2). Remove more paint by blotting at the stain with a clean white cloth.
- 3). Blot at the stain with a clean white cloth that has been soaked in turpentine.
- 4). Repeat blotting at the paint with the turpentine until it has been completely removed.
- 5). Apply liquid hand soap to a sponge and blot the sponge onto the stained area.
- 6). Combine 1 cup of cool water with 1 oz. of liquid dish soap.
- 7). Blot the stain with a clean white cloth that has been soaked in the liquid dish soap mixture.
- 8). Repeat blotting at the stain until it is completely removed.
- 9). Blot at the previously stained area with a sponge that has been soaked in plain water. Blot until the detergent has been lifted. Allow the rug to air-dry.
