Installation Instructions for a Maytag Washer

    • 1). Move the washer within 3 feet of its intended permanent position using the appliance dolly.

    • 2). Remove the four bolts and spacers on the rear of the washer retaining the power cable using the adjustable wrench, or a 13 mm socket wrench. Discard the bolts and spacers, as they are only needed during shipping.

    • 3). Pull the power cord through the hole, then secure the power cable using the attached clip.

    • 4). Insert the four bolt caps that were included with the washing machine into the bolt holes.

    • 5). Insert the washers included with the machine into the ends of the inlet hoses that supply the hot and cold water to the machine.

    • 6). Screw the inlet hose with the red marking onto the left valve on the rear of the washing machine, which is the hot water valve. Screw the other inlet hose onto the cold water valve, located to the right of the hot water valve. Tighten the hoses by hand at first, then use the adjustable wrench to further tighten, but do not over-tighten.

    • 7). Attach the inlet hoses to the hot and cold water supply valves on the wall, attaching the hot water to the red, or hot water, valve and the cold water inlet hose to the blue, or cold water, supply valve. Again, tighten the hoses by hand, then use the adjustable wrench to further tighten, but do not over-tighten.

    • 8). Squeeze the hose clamp tabs together using the locking pliers, then insert it over the end of the drain hose. The hose clamp is a coiled metal wire with two tabs on one end.

    • 9). Slide the end of the drain hose over the drain on the rear of the washer, then release the locking pliers to create a tight seal. The drain can be identified as it is an elbow-shaped PVC pipe on the rear of the washer.

    • 10

Insert the other end of the drain hose into the drain pipe, and secure it using the zip ties to ensure that it does not move or come out of the drain.

    • 11

Ensure that the washer is level, and if adjustments are needed, raise or lower the legs using the adjustable wrench.

    • 12

Plug the power outlet into the wall, then turn on the hot and cold water supply valves. Inspect the lines for any leaks.

    • 13

Move the washer into its permanent position, ensuring that no cables or lines are twisted, caught or pinched.
