Wayne Dalton 8000 Installation Instructions
- 1). Remove the garage door from its packaging and read the instructions and warnings carefully to avoid unhappy surprises while installing the door.
- 2). Separate the guide rails that will be mounted on the right and left side of the garage door and put them together according to the picture directions included with the kit. The curved part of the track is connected to the horizontal and vertical tracks with flat bolts so that the wheels of the garage door can roll along the track unimpeded. When these are put together, prop them against the door frame on their respective sides of the door opening.
- 3). Install the brackets onto the tracks with the supplied hardware. Then assemble the bottom door panel of the garage door by inserting the wheels into the holes you will find in the side of the panel. There are four wheels for each panel. Fit the door panel into the tracks and use it to align the tracks into position on the wall and ceiling of the garage.
- 4). Attach the brackets to the wall with the supplied bolts. Roll up the bottom panel of the door to the horizontal track running along the ceiling. Use the width of the door panel to gauge where the ceiling supports must be mounted to hold the door tracks in place. Once the tracks are even and level, bolt them to the ceiling to complete their installation.
- 5). Roll the door back down to the ground, being careful to avoid dropping and damaging it. Install the vinyl weather stripping around the perimeter of the door opening by tacking it in place with the included nails and a hammer. Check the bottom door panel with a framing level to be certain it is correctly oriented. If not, use the shims included with the door kit to straighten the panel before installing the rest of the panels.
- 6). Assemble and install the remainder of the door panels on top of the bottom-most panel. As you position each one, attach the hinges that secure the door panels to one another. These are attached to the panels with a socket wrench. With the door assembled, attach the counterbalance cable to its connection point on the bottom door panel.
- 7). Assemble the torque tube and install it above the curved sections of the door track according to the kit instructions. Connect the counterbalance cable to the cable drum, and follow the kit instructions carefully to set the tension in the torque tube.
