How to Build a Long Park Bench
- 1). Lay two 16-inch boards flat, parallel and 17 inches apart. Lay a 24-inch board perpendicularly on top of them so the top edge of the 24-inch board is flush with the ends of the 16-inch boards. The ends of the 24-inch board should be flush with the sides of the 16-inch boards. Screw the 24-inch board to the 16-inch board so three screws enter each 16-inch board. Repeat this step with the other two 16-inch boards and 24-inch board.
- 2). Stand the two pairs of 16-inch boards upright so the 24-inch boards are not on the ground. Position them so the 24-inch boards are parallel, between the 16-inch boards and spaced 53 inches apart. These are the legs to your park bench.
- 3). Lay the 96-inch boards perpendicularly on top of the 24-inch boards. Space the boards 1/2-inch apart. The outside edges of the two 96-inch boards should be flush with the ends of the 24-inch boards. The ends of the 96-inch boards should each be 20 inches away from the 24-inch boards. Screw the 96-inch boards to the 24-inch boards using four screws for each board.
