How do I Program a Chamberlain Door Opener?

    Use the Learn Button

    • 1). Place a stepladder securely on the garage floor under the garage door opener motor unit. Holding the remote control unit you wish to synchronize, climb the ladder to the point where you can reach the orange or purple "learn" button on the motor unit. Press the "learn" button and release it, causing the light next to the button to turn on for 30 seconds while the motor unit is in learning mode.

    • 2). Press the operating button on the remote control unit. If your remote has more than one button, press the one that you want to use to open and close your garage door. Hold down the button until you see or hear an acknowledging signal from the motor unit.

    • 3). Wait for the motor unit to signal that learning has occurred. Either the light bulb, if installed, will blink or you will hear two clicks. Release the button on the remote.

    • 4). Test the remote to make sure it operates the garage door. If not, repeat the procedure. Climb down the stepladder.

    Use the Wall-Mounted Door Control

    • 1). Press the operating button on the remote control unit. If your remote has more than one button, press the one that you want to use to open and close your garage door. Hold down the button while performing the next steps.

    • 2). Press the light control button on the wall control unit. Hold it down and continue to hold the remote button while performing the next step.

    • 3). Press and hold the push bar on the wall unit while continuing to hold down the other two buttons.

    • 4). Wait for the motor unit to signal completion of learning. Either the light bulb, if installed, will blink or you will hear two clicks. Release all three buttons at this point.

    • 5). Test the remote to make sure it operates the garage door. If not, repeat the procedure.
