How to Repair a Broken Toilet Drain Pipe in Concrete

    • 1). Insert a large towel into the toilet drainpipe. This is to keep debris from falling into the sewer line. If you think the rag will fall down the pipe, tie a string around it first.

    • 2). Break off the rest of the old closet flange with a hammer and chisel. Be careful of flying pieces of metal or plastic.

    • 3). Pour concrete around the toilet drainpipe up to floor level if necessary. Smooth the concrete even with the bathroom floor. This will give the new flange a solid foundation to anchor.

    • 4). Remove the towel from the drain. Push the new repair closet flange into the drainpipe. Some closet repair flanges need tightening from the inside before you anchor them.

    • 5). Drill at least four anchor holes into the new concert through the anchor holes in the flange. Use a concrete drill bit to drill the holes, and then insert the anchors and screws.
