How to Make a Flower Brooch Pin With Fabric

    • 1). Cut out four to five flower shapes, roughly 4 inches wide, from scraps of fabric using a pair of fabric scissors. The shapes do not have to be exact and the flower petals can be uneven. Cut out another four to five flower shapes, with these measuring roughly 2 inches wide. Try using different colors, patterns and textures of fabric.

    • 2). Layer the flowers with the larger 4 inch pieces in the back and the 2 inch pieces on top. Turn each piece so the petals of each layer overlap each other. The petals should not match up, and it is good if they are lopsided.

    • 3). Use a needle and matching thread to sew an "X" through the middle of the stacked flowers. Pull the thread very tight so the fabric layers pucker. Tie a knot and clip the loose thread ends. Add one to two additional stitches in the center of the fabric flower if you would like more exaggerated puckering.

    • 4). Select a matching button, jewel or bead. Place a drop of hot glue on the back of it and press it into the center of your flower to cover the stitches.

    • 5). Use the needle and thread to sew the brooch pin on the back of the flower. Make sure the pin is centered on the flower's back to ensure that it will hang right when pinned on.
