Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Patricia Samaniego. I'm a Fashion Designer and you can catch me at patriciasamaniego.com. In this video, I'm going to explain the differences between cotton thread. So, there's different types of cotton threads. The more basic ones that are more commonly used are the cotton thread like this which is, comes in mercerized; it has like a covering on it to, to help with finer fabrics like silks or just transparent fabrics which is, would be great for. Another type of cotton is the all purpose cotton which is a 100 percent cotton as well. And then, it also comes in a poly-blend which is kind of like 63 to 67 percent poly or 30, 33 to 37 percent poly and it can use, it can be used with any kind of fabric. But, this one's actually the 50, which is 100 percent cotton. And then you have quilting thread which has a glaze on it that's mainly use for hand quilting, hand sewing for quilts and it's a lot thicker than your all purpose thread or a 100 percent cotton thread. The next one I have are stranded cotton and almost like embroidery floss or is an embroidery floss and it comes in a variety of different colors, some of them shiny, others is matte and it comes in six strands. Depending on what you're making, it, you can either use all six strands or you can split them apart into three strands or four strands and it's usually use for embroidery work. The next one I have is tatting thread, normally use for crocheting or needlework or any type of handwork where you will need a, like a thicker type yarn. And lastly, there's pearl cotton thread which is a twisted thread that's a two-ply high sheen. It can be found in different weight and different colors and use in needlework or embroidery type work. I'm Patricia Samaniego and thanks for watching.
