Haircut to Make Thinning Hair Look Thicker
- The bob is a classic cut that is anywhere from the top of your shoulders to right above your chin in length, and usually incorporates some layering. When making your thinning hair appear thicker, you want to concentrate on the layering aspect. Find a photo of a bob haircut you like and bring it when you get your hair cut.
A variation of the classic bob is the angled bob, which is longer in front and graduates to shorter layers in the back. The angled bob is versatile because you can be extreme or subtle with the graduation of layers. Long, face-framing pieces in front with short, spiked layers in the back is a more edgy look and may disguise the fact that your hair is thinning. - You can use the idea of layers to make your hair look thicker without having length chopped off. If you hair has passed your shoulders, have your stylist add as many layers as possible. This will give your hair dimension, and more bounce and body. Adding angled layers and fringe around your face is flattering and will add more body.
Long layers give you many styling options. You can tease the hair at the root by brushing a comb downward close to your scalp and holding it up with hair spray; smooth down the top and you will have that "bump" that is flattering and will make your hair look thicker. The long layers also allow you to add even more volume by curling the ends, either with a flat iron or a curling iron.
