How to Clean a House With Toothpaste

    • 1). Clean tile. Apply the toothpaste to a soft toothbrush or another type of soft brush. Gently scrub the tile and the grout. Rinse with a water and a soft cloth. Be careful not to scratch the tile. To keep the grout from getting dingy and gray, try a whitening toothpaste. Be sure to test the toothpaste in an unseen area to make sure it doesn’t discolor the tile or grout.

    • 2). Scour pots and pans. Apply the toothpaste to a sponge, scrubber or cloth that will not scratch that particular type of pan. Gently scour the pan. You can also apply the toothpaste directly to a tough spot on the pot or pan and let is set for a while. Come back later and scour the pan. Rinse as you normally would.

    • 3). Remove dirt from baseboards. Apply the toothpaste on a soft cloth or sponge and rub the baseboards. Be careful not to scratch the surface of your baseboards. For tougher stains, apply the toothpaste directly on the stain and let it soak for a while before you attempt to clean it. Be sure to try the toothpaste on a small test spot first to make sure it won't discolor the baseboards.

    • 4). Wash the walls. Apply the toothpaste to a sponge or cloth and wipe down your walls. You can apply the toothpaste directly to the wall, if you prefer. Again, be sure to have a hidden test spot to make sure the toothpaste doesn’t discolor the walls. This is a particularly good way to clean problem areas around light switches and door knobs.

    • 5). Clean the refrigerator. Apply the toothpaste to a soft toothbrush or other type of small brush. Gently scrub the stains and rinse with water. This is a great way to clean those hard-to-reach spots where spills and other stains seem to always appear. It is also helpful when cleaning the runners of the crisper.

    • 6). Scrub the stove and oven. Apply the toothpaste directly to the tough stains on your stove and in your oven. Gently clean with a sponge, cloth or a scrubber that is safe for the appliance. Be careful not to scratch the surface. This is a great way to clean the grease catchers on the stove as well as those hard to reach spots in the oven.

    • 7). Clean the sinks. Apply the toothpaste to the sink and the fixtures. Use a cloth to clean the area. A soft brush can also be used to clean the stubborn spots. If you have an aluminum sink or metal fixtures, be careful not to scratch the surfaces. This is great for those small areas that are hard to reach.
