Instructions to Crochet a Ripple Afghan

    • 1). Check your gauge by making a small swatch of your the ripple stitch pattern. According to the Coats & Clark website, One repeat of 20 stitches should equal 6 3/8 inches and seven rows equal 4 inches in the pattern. This will gauge your project with how tight you are holding the yarn and make sure that your pattern will turn out the correct size.

    • 2). Chain 141 stitches.

Repeat the following six times: half double crochet in next eight chains, three half double crochets in the next chain, half double crochet in next eight chains, yarn over and pull up a loop in the next chain, skip the next chain, yarn over and pull up a loop in the next chain, yarn over and pull yarn through all five loops on the hook making the decrease. Half double crochet in next eight chains, complete three half double crochets in the next chain, half double crochet in next eight chains. Yarn over over and pull up a loop in the next two chains.

Turn your work. Fasten off.
