How to Unlock a Kyocera Switchback Cell Phone
- 1). Contact the Switch Back network provider's customer service line. In this case, that is Virgin Mobile. (See References.) State the intention to unlock the phone and switch networks. Virgin will then provide the IMEI code, a number identifying the individual phone. Depending on the agreements of the original contract, Virgin might charge for the number.
- 2). Power down the Switch Back. Turning the phone on its face, remove the plate covering the battery. Near the battery is a small slot with a card in it. This is Virgin's SIM card, which connects the phone to Virgin's network. Remove the card and replace it with the SIM card of the new provider, who'll also provide the card when a service agreement with their network is entered.
- 3). Power on the Switch Back. It will detect that Virgin's SIM card is missing and has been replaced. A message will appear on the phone's screen asking for authorization to use the new SIM card. This authorization is given using the IMEI code you just obtained. Enter the code. Once the phone has accepted it, the Switch Back is unlocked and will begin using the new service.
