How to Produce Plantain Chips

    Fried Plantain Chips

    • 1). Peel the plantain.

    • 2). Cut the plantain into thin slices with a mandolin or sharp knife. Some prefer them cut crosswise to make small chips. Others prefer to cut them lengthwise to make long, thin strips.

    • 3). Deep fry your plantain chips in vegetable oil until they are golden brown.

    • 4). Remove the plantain chips from the oil and spread them out on a plate covered with paper towels to soak up the excess grease.

    • 5). Lightly salt and serve.

    Baked Plantain Chips

    • 1). Peel the plantain.

    • 2). Cut the plantain into thin slices with a mandolin or sharp knife.

    • 3). Toss the slices in olive or coconut oil until they are lightly coated.

    • 4). Spread the slices out on a baking sheet. Sprinkle them with salt.

    • 5). Bake them for 20 to 25 minutes (or until they are crisp) at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Turn and salt them halfway through.
