How to Throw a Wii Party for your Child

    • 1). Make your guest list. If you plan to use only one Wii system, invite four to eight kids; this will ensure that each guest can play in a game simultaneously. If you want to expand your guest list, plan to set up additional systems and have someone to help with crowd control. Try to make sure you have no more than eight children for each game system.

    • 2). Create Wii-themed invitations. Use white card stock to cut a long, narrow remote shape, and use stickers found in a craft supply or scrap-booking store to make the "+," "-" and "A" buttons. Draw in arrow keys for a realistic look. Punch a hole at the bottom of the invitation and tie a string to resemble the Wii remote handle. Use the actual Wii remote as a model to create the paper version. Write the party information on the back.

    • 3). Hook up the Wii to a big television in your home or through a projector outside. If it's a large party, consider using multiple TVs and Wiis, or setting up a tournament so everyone takes turns. You need a room with at least six feet between the couch and television. If you are using multiple TVs, make sure there is enough room for each Wii system.

    • 4). Gather enough Wii remotes for multi-player games, as well as any accessories needed for individual titles. Check the batteries to make sure each remote is working, and purchase extra batteries for quick replacement. Choose multi-player games such as "Mario Kart," "Mario Party" or "Rock Band."

    • 5). Decorate the room with cutouts and posters of characters from Wii games. These can be found at party supply or toy stores. Tape them to the wall or scatter them throughout the room on tables. Use cases from games as additional decor if desired.

    • 6). Make a cake shaped like a Wii remote. Use a rectangular cake and frost it white. Use black or white frosting to create the buttons, as on a remote. If you are artistic, try creating your child's favorite Wii character out of cake. If baking your own cake is not an option, you may be able to commission a cake from a local bakery.

    • 7). Create Wii-themed goody bags. You might include small plastic figures of popular game characters such as Zelda, Mario or Yoshi; Wii-shaped candy dispensers would work as well. Check your local discount store or the Internet for such items, and add cheap Wii-themed accessories if you can find them.
