Instructions for Making Jewelry Rings With a Wire
- 1). Measure the finger you want the ring to go on. Wrap some yarn around the finger and cut a piece that represents the circumference. Lay this piece of yarn next to a ruler or the wire you have chosen. Add an extra inch of wire to allow room for decorative items.
- 2). Cut two pieces of wire, the same length as the finger measurement, if you want the ring to have a singular wrap. If you want the wire to wrap round the finger two or three times, cut the wire two or three times bigger.
- 3). Thread a bead through the two pieces of wire if you wish your ring to have a bead. Alternatively, you could use a button. Many people also choose to create plain wire rings.
- 4). Wrap the two pieces of wire round a ring mandrel in opposite directions, at the size of your ring finger. Carry on wrapping the wire around the mandrel until you have an additional inch of wire left on each side.
- 5). Remove the ring from the mandrel. Ensure the ring is sturdy and fits your finger. Then, using pliers, pull the remaining wire down to the point where the ring will rest under your finger and snip off the end. Repeat with the other side.
- 6). Tuck any sharp edges of wire into the other wire, or away from where they may dig into your skin.
- 7). Put the ring on the finger you intend the ring for then reshape and remold it. Make sure the button or bead you slipped on at the beginning is in the center of the ring, at the top of the finger.
