How to Make Fuzzy Slippers
- 1). Place your foot on an old grocery sack material, and trace an egg shape around the edges of your foot. The point of the egg shape should be at your heel, while the large, rounded part should be at the toe. This is the sole of your shoe.
- 2). Draw a large U with a fat bottom curve. The center of the bottom curve should measure the distance from the top front of your foot to the end of your toes. The side legs of the U should measure from the bottom of your ankle to the bottom of your foot. The distance between the tip of the U bottom and the top outside corner of the U should measure the same as half of the egg shape. This large U is the upper of your slipper. Be sure to add a half inch for a seam allowance to the edges of your sole and your upper.
- 3). Cut out the shapes and create a paper mock-up of your slipper using masking tape to ensure that the seams line up correctly. The arms of the U should close behind the heel of your foot, and the sole should attach to the bottom side of the upper. The mock-up should look like the slipper turned right-side-in. Try this mock-up on your foot to ensure that it fits correctly.
- 4). Take the masking tape off of your mock-up and use the paper pieces as your pattern. The pattern is made as a straight shoe, rather than a right or left shoe, so one pattern will make each slipper. Lay them on the felt and cut out two of each pattern piece. Then, turn the fur over so that the fuzzy side is on the bottom and cut out two of each pattern piece.
- 5). Sew each felt piece to its matching fur piece using a whipstitch. Pin one sole to one upper so that the fur is turned outward. Sew the upper to the lower using a whipstitch.
- 6). Turn the slipper so that the furry side is right side in.
