How to Make a Girl Pirate Costume
- 1). Start with your clothing; look for pants that you can roll up to the knees. Use skirts for a sexy pirate look, and shred the bottom hem for added rugged effect using scissors. Find a striped tank top or shirt, or a solid white will do. Boots are ideal, but for a sexy look, wear stilettos to match your outfit and make it more feminine; try both high-heeled boots and heels to find the look that's right for you.
- 2). Add the finished touches with a belt or sash. Use a large ribbon, or scarf, and tie around the waist with a tail on the side. Wear big hoop earrings and lots of rings. Add belt buckles to your shoes by covering cardboard squares in tin foil and securing with double-sided tape.
- 3). Add props. Make your own treasure map using tea to stain white paper, with your own drawn design. Burn the edges carefully with a lighter or matches. Use a paper towel role or a child's telescope to make a looking glass. Remember that toy swords and pistols, tucked in the sash belt, make perfect additions.
- 4). Dress the part, but don't forget makeup. Use lots of black eyeliner. Draw tattoos with eye-liner pencil or buy transfer tattoos to add with water. Make your hair messy, and add small braids. Buccaneer hats can be bought at most costume stores, but, for an easy idea, tie another sash or bandanna around your head. Eye patches, sold inexpensively at most costume stores, finish the look.
