Is It Time To Crush The Candy?
With news that Candy Crush Saga is netting $670,000 a day, from those Candy Crushers who are so addicted to the game that they are paying huge sums to play the game, Britain's Daily Mail is claiming that the United Kingdom Office of Fair Trading wants guidelines on those games such as Candy Crush which have exploitative game mechanics.
Candy Crush Saga is by far the biggest game on the planet at the moment.
It has over 50 million Likes on Facebook, and achieved over 10 million downloads in December of 2012 alone.
It is currently the highest grossing app in both Apple and Google's online stores, and it is estimated more than 45 million people play it each month.
Its premise is simple: players are presented with a grid of different colored candies and have to horizontally or vertically swap the positions of two adjacent candies in order to create sets of three or more candies of the same color.
The game is divided into different, and increasingly more challenging levels, with different requirements before that level is complete: players might have to get rid of certain ingredients, remove specific candies, or simply reach a defined score.
Depending on which version a player plays - Facebook or Smartphone - there are around 500 levels, with a new level added each week, thereby making the 'finish line' of Candy Crush an ever-moving goal post.
The key to its financial success is the limited number of lives a player has, which are lost each time a player fails at a challenge.
With an inherent frustration in-built at not being able to solve such a seemingly simple game, this can lead some players to purchase lives, boosters and access which can help them continue playing and progress through the levels.
With some players reported as racking up debts of literally thousands of dollars in order to play the game, there is a growing market for guides and systems which can help people play the game - and progress through the levels - much more cheaply.
The best system is undoubtedly Crush the Candy.
Developed by James Lee, a Candy Crush addict himself and a master gamester, the on-line program provides every trick, tip and secret to help every player win at every level and reach the highest levels freely and easily.
The database is updated regularly by both Lee himself and a host of other super Candy Crush players - or rock stars as the gamester world call such experts.
With such information, any player can become a rock star themselves.
