How to Remove Marker Stains From Upholstery

    • 1). Gently blot the marker stain with paper towels if the stain has freshly come into contact with the upholstery.

    • 2). Spray hairspray onto the marker stain and blot with a paper towel, using a fresh area of paper towel with each blot.

    • 3). Saturate the edge of a paper towel with nail polish remover, and rub gently over the marker stain.

    • 4). Apply a thick layer of toothpaste to the upholstery if any stain remains.

    • 5). Scrub the toothpaste into the stain with a cleaning cloth, and repeat until all stain is removed.

    • 6). Treat the fabric with an upholstery cleaner to remove any marker or cleaning product residue.

    • 7). Moisten a fresh cleaning cloth with water, and wipe over the area to remove any remaining residue. Let the upholstery air dry.
