Bleeding Throat
- Strep throat can cause a bleeding throat. Strep throat can cause sores on the lining of the esophagus that could become inflamed and infected. In severe cases or when left untreated, these sores can bleed.
- Dry air can lead to a variety of problems in the sinuses, including bleeding. Dry, irritated skin and mucous membranes can crack and occasionally bleed. This is a common cause of nosebleeds as well.
- Excessive, forceful coughing can lead to bleeding in the throat. Air, phlegm, acid and a variety of other substances can be hacked up during forceful coughing that can irritate the lining of the throat, causing bleeding.
