How to Cook Perfect Rice

Cooking the perfect batch of rice can be a bit of a chore, as it is sometimes difficult to avoid overcooking or undercooking the rice.
However, if you want to cook perfect rice every time, here is a simple method you can use.
Before cooking rice it is best to rinse it in a colander using fresh running tap water.
This will remove all impurities and excess starch from the rice.
The key to getting perfect rice is the ratio of how much rice to water you use, and the amount of time you cook it.
To begin, you will need a pot with a tight fitting lid, water, and your rice.
Start by adding 1 ½ cups of water to every cup of rice directly into you pot.
Bring the water and rice to a boil.
It is easiest to simply to turn your stove on high and let the water boil, leaving the pot uncovered.
Once the rice and water come to a nice rolling boil, cover the pot firmly and reduce the heat to a simmer.
One thing to note is to not use salt in the water, while this is the preferred boiling method for pastas, rice does not need any added salt to cook.
Allow the rice to simmer for exactly twenty minutes.
As soon as the timer is up, take the pot off the heat, but leave it covered for an additional ten minutes.
After the ten minutes is up, removes the lid and enjoy your rice.
For storage purposes, you can place the cooked rice in sealed Tupperware and place it in the fridge.
In addition, if you don't mind the added fat, you can mix in a little butter or margarine to your freshly cooked rice.
This will make is taste a little creamier, and also prevent it from sticking.
