How to Display a Flag on a Pole
- 1). Make sure that the flag is folded as you approach the pole, because it is illegal to allow a flag to touch the ground.
- 2). The halyard rope will have clips. Unfasten them, and attached the flag with the union symbol (also known as the blue square with 50 stars) on top.
- 3). Do not let the flag touch the ground after it has been attached. If there are multiple flags on the pole, be sure the American flag is on top, because it is illegal to display it otherwise.
- 4). The rope you have now attached to your flag is a pulley system. Pull the rope until the flag is all the way at the top of the pole.
- 5). Once the flag has reached the top, secure the rope, and you're done.
