Seashell Crafts for a Vanity Tray

    Seashell Votive Candle

    • Enjoy the flattering light cast by a single small candle, or group several candles together to make a stunning display on your vanity. To make a seashell votive you will need a whelk or other shell with a large opening, candle wax from the craft store, and a tea light candle. Cut the wax into 1 inch chunks and melt in a double boiler or in the oven. Pour the melted wax into the shell and allow it to cool slightly. Before the wax cools, remove the tea light candle from the metal cup and insert it into the melted wax. Allow the wax to cool completely before using.

    Seashell Brush Caddy

    • Make a pretty cup to hold your combs and brushes by embellishing a small flowerpot with real seashells. Start with a four inch flowerpot, a small pot of tile adhesive from the home improvement store and a plastic knife or trowel. Use the knife to scoop adhesive from the pot and apply it in a thick layer to the flower pot. The adhesive is the consistency of cake frosting, and will spread easily. Press small seashells into the adhesive and allow the pot to dry overnight, then use to store small items.

    Coral Jewelry Holder

    • Buy a large piece of coral from an aquarium or pet supply store. Look for a piece of coral that stands by itself and has lots of finger protrusions. Use craft glue to line the bottom of the coral with felt so you don't scratch the vanity, and hand necklaces, bracelets and other jewelry items on the coral to display them.

    Mirrored Tray

    • Select a small mirror with a wood frame from a big box or dollar store. Use a hot glue gun to attach small seashells around the edges of the frame, covering it completely. Place the mirror flat on top of the vanity and use it to display small items.

    Seashell Ring Holder

    • Select a large scallop shell and spray it with clear acrylic sealer from the home improvement or craft store. Add stick on foam feet from the furniture section to the back of the shell, and place the shell on top of the vanity. Use it to hold rings and other small, easily lost items.
