How to Make a Soy Lotion Massage Candle
- 1). Wash out a mason jar---even if it is new---and dry it well. This will be the container for your candle, so feel free to decorate this candle as desired. You may choose to add ribbon, wax paper, tissue paper or plastic gems, or you can even hand-paint your jar to add a more personal touch.
- 2). Fill a Pyrex measuring cup with soy wax flakes and place into a microwave at high heat for roughly five minutes, stirring occasionally. As the wax flakes melt, you may need to add more flakes to your cup. By the time your wax is completely melted you want as close to two cups of wax as possible.
- 3). Superglue the base of a long candle wick to the bottom of your glass jar. You may need to hold it in place for about a minute for the glue to set.
- 4). Add ¼ cup of an essential oil of your choice to the melted wax and stir. Some great massage-candle scent options are lavender, almond, apricot, vanilla and green tea, or any blend of scents depending on your taste.
- 5). Pour the soy-wax-and-oil mixture into your jar slowly and evenly. This will help avoid excessive lumps as the wax cools, causing you to have as smooth a candle as possible.
- 6). Center your wick in the candle. Once the wax has dried, you can cut off the excess length of wick.
