How to Heat Up Frozen Fuel Lines for Your Heating System

    • 1). Unscrew the front cover on your heating system. Slide the cover off.

    • 2). Locate the gas pipe going into your heater chamber. The pipe will be approximately a 1/2 inch in diameter. Turn the gas knob located on the pipe off by turning it clockwise until it is tight.

    • 3). Turn on the handheld propane torch. Hold the flame about 2 inches away from the frozen gas pipe. Move the flame back and forth along the gas pipe for several minutes.

    • 4). Shut off the propane torch. Turn on the gas line knob. Start the furnace by pushing the manual ignite button on the furnace burning chamber. Tap the gas pipe with a hammer to knock down any ice left in the pipe and allow the gas to push it into the furnace's burning chamber.
