Homemade Wood Lathe Stand
- 1). Lay two pine 4-by-4s on the floor and parallel so the outside edges are 60 inches apart. Screw a 60-inch pine board flat to the ends of the 4-by-4s so all the edges are flush. Repeat this process with the other two 4-by-4 boards and another 60-inch board.
- 2). Stand both sets of 4-by-4s up so the top edges of the 60-inch boards are 30 inches off of the ground and facing each other. The outside edges of the 4-by-4s should be 18 inches apart. Screw an 18-inch board to the 4-by-4s, so an 18-inch edge is flush with the top of the 4-by-4s and perpendicular to the 60-inch boards. Repeat this process on the other side of the 60-inch boards to complete the top part of the frame.
- 3). Screw three 60-inch boards perpendicularly to the 18-inch boards so the corners are flush. Space the 60-inch boards a 1/4-inch apart so the depth of the table is 18 inches.
- 4). Measure 6 inches from the bottom of the table legs and screw the last two 60-inch boards to the frame, one on each side to add stability.
- 5). Bolt down your lathe to your lathe stand.
