How to: Mosaic Coaster Molds
- 1). Clean the jar lid thoroughly. Metal works best because it is sturdy and won't give when pressing the clay into it. However, any jar lid the size you want your coasters will do.
- 2). Mix equal parts of the two silicone mold putty parts together. The package comes with two different putties; you have to mix them together right before using for them.
- 3). Press the mixed putty over the outside of the lid. Spread it out evenly using your hands. Cover the entire outside of the lid, including the sides. Allow the putty to dry. To check this, touch the putty because it can look wet even when it's dry.
- 4). Peel the putty away from the lid once it is dry. It will be in the shape of a coaster; you only need to pour mosaic plaster into it to make coasters. The plaster will not stick to the mold because it is made of silicone, which resists sticking.
