How to Care for a Wassily Chair
- 1). Clean the chrome on your Wassily chair once every two weeks to prevent dirt and debris buildup. Knoll Studio, producer of the Wassily chair, recommends using either a nonabrasive surface cleaner or a commercial chrome cleaner and removing the substance with a chamois.
- 2). Keep the leather clean by wiping it down once every two weeks with a damp cloth. Wet the cloth with cool water then wring it out until it releases no more water. If there is persistent soil on the surface of the leather, mix a solution of pH-neutral soap (roughly 1 teaspoon per quart of cool water). Wet and wring the cloth and wipe the soiled area. Follow with a cool-water wipe. After cleaning, wipe the leather down with a dry cloth.
- 3). Protect your Wassily chair's chrome from rust with hard paste wax. Rub it on with a chamois, allow it to dry to a haze for the amount of time listed on the label (usually 10 to 15 minutes) then buff the chrome dry. Take care not to get any wax on the leather portions of the chair.
