- 1). Lay your silk out on a flat surface. Place a towel below the surface you are working on so you don't affect any other part of the material during the cleaning process.
- 2). Cut a 6 inch or longer piece of duct tape. Pat the sticky side of the duct tape over the glue residue. This may be able to remove some or all of it.
- 3). Dip a Q-Tip or cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Gently rub the tape glue residue with it. The alcohol should dissolve the residue. Start with a small, inconspicuous area of your silk first just to make sure it doesn't affect the color of the silk. Vinegar can be used in the same manner as a substitute for rubbing alcohol.
- 4). Use your fingernail or a plastic scraping tool to scrape off any remaining residue.
Wash your silk according to the product instructions. - 5). Consult a dry cleaner if the tape glue residue problem persists.
