Great Locations For Big Weddings

It happens to a lot of brides and grooms - you start off thinking that you will have an intimate wedding for your nearest and dearest, and then you start making the guest list.
Before you know it, your elegant affair for fifty has turned into a jumbo sized wedding for three hundred.
Relax, because once you start looking, you will find that there are some really great wedding locations that are perfect for big weddings.
Brides who are planning large weddings will definitely find that not every venue can accommodate the size of their guest list.
This can be a bummer, if you have had your eye on that chic little loft or cozy club.
On the other hand, there are also some fabulous wedding sites that need a large crowd to make them feel full and vibrant instead of empty and overwhelming.
These are some ideas on how to find those places that will fit a large wedding perfectly.
One fabulous option for a very large wedding is a museum.
Many of the great museums will host affairs after hours for any size guest list.
Imagine having your wedding reception in the grand atrium of a stunning Beaux Arts marble museum.
Your guests can dine and dance while surrounded by priceless works of art (or perhaps a towering dinosaur at a natural history museum).
A wedding in such a grand setting should be a formal event.
Since they will usually need to be in the evening to work around the museum's schedule, a black tie wedding would be ideal.
Museum brides should shop for formal satin ballgowns with long trains and elaborate bridal jewelry sets.
Also plan to have very tall and opulent centerpieces if you will be placing your tables in an atrium with sky high ceilings.
You do not want any of your special details to get swallowed up by the vast space.
If you prefer more relaxed surroundings, a very unique wedding location is a sports stadium or arena.
Surprised? The stadiums in some cities can be rented to host large events right down on the playing field.
This is an incredible idea for brides and grooms who are sports enthusiasts.
Wouldn't your groom think he was in Heaven if he could get married on the 50 yard line of his favorite team's home turf? The huge size of a stadium field makes it a terrific place to host a very large wedding.
Such a wide open space will look best if you give it some structure, so think about setting up a tent to shelter your guests during dinner.
If the ceremony will also be in the stadium, it would be nice to set up some sort of low catwalk to define the path that the bride will take as she makes her way down the aisle.
A stadium wedding need not be formal, but there is also no point in trying to pretend that it is low-key! Traditionalists will find that most metropolitan areas have hotel ballrooms that can accommodate very large groups.
These spaces are not so vast, and are a good choice if your taste runs towards more classic wedding décor.
For a large wedding in any space, the bride will still want to make sure that the wedding gowns and sets of bridal jewelry that she is considering will have enough presence to work in a big space.
You do not have to be over the top, but a bride should never get lost in the crowd at her own wedding!
