Video Transcript

Hi. I'm beauty expert Tracy O'Connor and today I'm going to show you how to choose a face cream. Using a facial cream daily is very important to healthy radiant skin. Now, how do you know what is the right facial cream for you? What's the right moisturizer? Well, first you should evaluate your skin and figure out whether you have dry, oily, normal or a combination skin. Also you want to consider if it's time for you to start anti-aging and you want a facial cream that's also going to help treat fine lines and wrinkles. Now, with our model Ashlin, her skin appears to me to be maybe pretty normal, normal in most regions with maybe a little bit of oiliness on the t-zone right here on the forehead and maybe in the cheeks, maybe a little prone to break out just from the oiliness. So, for her, I'm going to choose a facial cream that is a light weight moisturizer, but that's going to deliver the hydration that she needs for healthy skin. To moisturize Ashlin's skin, I'm going to use the Ultra Facial Cream by Kiehl's. I'm just going to use about a dime size amount for Ashlin. I'm going to go ahead and apply that on the four parts of the face. Again, forehead, cheeks and nose and the chin. Now, at home, the best way to choose a moisturizer, to really understand your skin, have a good understanding of your skin. If you have skin like Ashlin, which is very, very common, most women happen to have combination skin, you want to look for a moisturizer that's going to nourish your skin but you don't want a moisturizer that's too heavy. This is a perfect moisturizer for a combination skin type. Because it has glycerin which is an incredibly gentle emollient. So, it will hydrate the skin but it won't clog the pores. It's noncomedogenic, which is something to look for if you do have a tendency get a little break out n the t-zone. Now, if you're aging, I think the kind of ingredients you want to look for are ingredients such as vitamin A, hyaluronic acid, anything that's going to stimulate the collagen and elastin in your skin. One of the highly effective ingredients in this product is squalane, which is the botanical lipped which a botanical liquid which is derived from the olive plant and have an incredible ability to deliver hydration to the skin and also a twenty four hour hydration. So, continuous hydration throughout the day. And this is going to be fantastic for Ashlin because she does have a little bit of this surface dryness here on the sides of her cheeks. And, so we want to make sure that we maintain that hydration level throughout the entire day. If you're really acne prone, and you notice that you have large pores, congestion, that's how you know that you should probably be choosing a moisturizer that is oil free. Because what's common, what i see a lot, are men and women with acne who are afraid to moisturize. And just because you have congestion or you have a break out, that doesn't mean that you avoid moisturizing. You, you always want to moisturize and hydrate the skin. If your skin isn't hydrated, your skin isn't going to have that glow. And you can see, actually already with Ashlin, we have a little bit of a rosy cheek. And that's when you know that your skin is hydrated. For more mature skin types, you not only want to hydrate the skin and moisturize the skin, but you want to look for ingredients that are powerful wrinkle fighters and wrinkle preventers. You want to look for ingredients like vitamin A, hyaluronic acid. Both of these ingredients are incredible for stimulating collagen and creating a nice healthy cushion for the skin to prevent wrinkles. OK. There you go. That's how to choose a face cream. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
